August Newsletter

It was a worrying start to the day ‘weather-wise' for our day trip to Skipton.  A coach full of bodies clutching umbrellas, set off, hoping for the best and determined to have a good time, what- ever the sky threw at us.  The weather en route got even more worrying but after we arrived, it only drizzled for a short time and the rest of the day was glorious, warm enough even to indulge in an ice cream.  Skipton had a bustling market, lots of interesting shops & cafes, a castle and a canal to cruise on, there just wasn't enough time to sample it all in 1 day - we should have booked a week-end!  Perhaps we'll do another trip next year John?  On the return journey, the free ticket draws were won by Dave Ketteridge & a lady whose name escapes us and all resulted in a tidy profit of £140 for the funds.

Around 30 people attended our Bingo Night recently so it really was a ‘full house' with all eyes down and a lively night in the bargain with a  respectable profit of £130.  So thanks to all who attended and helped - especially our Caller Janet & the Tea Boys John & Eric who were particularly good at recycling the broken biscuits, under my supervision of course!

The next event will be a Coffee Morning on Sat 12th Sep, 10am-12pm in the Barn with a tombola & raffle.

And a Beetle Drive on Wed 30th Sep at 7pm also in the Barn, tickets are £3 and include light refreshments and are available from Janet on 849377 or you can pay on the night.
