FRIENDS OF HATFIELD CHURCH BUILDING TRUST

Hello again, I'm back at last and almost at normal speed again    after breaking my leg on holiday in Byblos, Lebanon in November!  It was a fabulous trip & a shame it had to come to and end just after the 1st week which meant I missed the next week in Syria.  Anyway, I've re-booked for Syria but have promised to watch out for those lethal speed bumps this time!

Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to Janet who kept the   articles flowing while I was sat with my leg in pot and away from a computer, much appreciated Janet, great job.

We've got some great news to share, The Friends collected just over £8,000 in 2009 for the Building Trust so I think we all    deserve a pat on the back for that, it was a pleasure to be part of it, but can we do better in 2010 though?

It's been business as usual and our first event of 2010 was the Fun with Antiques evening which raised over £60 for the kitty, thanks to Janet for organizing and everyone who helped and    attended.  More business now, we are holding The Friends AGM on Thurs 18th March at 7.30pm in the Barn where we'll be summing up last year's activities and electing new Officers, etc.  If you are interested in joining us on the Committee please let our Chairman Janet know (tel 849377) and come along, all        welcome, we are especially seeking a Minutes Secretary this time. Tea/coffee will be served after the meeting.

Our next fundraiser is the Coffee Morning on Sat 6th March at the Barn from 10-12pm, with a Tombola and raffle so please come along and then we'll be having another Pub Quiz at the Bay Horse on a Thurs in April from 9pm, £1 per person to enter, 4 bottles of wine for the winning team and a lucky table prize and raffle at half time.  Date to be announced next month.

For information: You can become a Friend for a minimum donation of £5.00 per year.  These subscriptions are the backbone of our fundraising efforts, with all funds raised going only to help maintain, conserve and restore our wonderful Grade 1 listed building and grounds.  Anyone can join us.   For more information please contact our Membership Secretary, Jim Brebner, on 01302 840013.
