The Friends of HCBT
June Newsletter
We have some great news this month if you haven't heard already; we are very pleased, proud & feel privileged to announce that we have an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) on our Friend's Committee! Betty Bateson has been awarded this great honour for all the work she does for our community & for many local charities and she thoroughly deserves it too, congratulations Betty, I know you were stunned!
Meanwhile, back at the fundraising, the Beetle Drive produced £93 to add to the pot. 27 people attended the ‘organised chaos' and all enjoyed the evening thanks to Janet. The Plant Sale in Church also made £39.50 so the money keeps trickling in.
Our Recent Coffee Morning had a fairly slow start but as the people appeared the cakes, flapjacks and Joyce's famous cheese scones soon disappeared. The lovely hand made cards & gift tags sold like hot cakes and with the tombola & raffle, a profit of £181 emerged. We must thank everyone for all the wonderful edible & non-edible donations & raffle prizes and to all who helped & attended.
Now, the Chaucer House Cake Fest.... bakers had been slaving over hot ovens for hours, tents were erected festooned with bunting and the Vicky Bodman Guitar Ensemble serenaded us beautifully while we sampled various slices of delicious cake & scones and drank gallons of tea & coffee, mmm - a splendid way to spend a Sunday afternoon, thanks Dave & Sandra for hosting and everyone who helped us produce £210 for the funds, it was a wonderful event, same again please next weekend Dave?
Hopefully, we'll see lots of you on the 27th June in Church for the Wheatsheaf Singers Concert & at our stall at the Garden Party. For information, the Coach Trip to Skipton on 15th July is sold out & now has a waiting list...
