Parochial Church Council Meeting

The PCC Secretary has sent an apology to the Clerk to the Hatfield Town Council for the error in quoting the amount donated by the Council towards the maintenance of the Church Clock to be £50– the amount is nearer £200 per annum.

The Archdeacon of the Diocese was travelling in one of the vehicles caught behind the procession to Hatfield Cemetery on Remembrance Sunday – he sent a message of congratulations on the impressive size, conduct and appearance of so many representatives of organisations in the community.

The Consecration of the next Bishop of Sheffield, Dr Steven Croft, will be conducted at York Minster on Sunday, 25th January. People wishing to attend are asked to sign up on the sheet to be found on the table at the back of Church.

Children’s Ministry: Arrangements are well in hand for a group to attend the Rainbow Day to be held at Dearne Valley Leisure Centre in the New Year – details to be advertised in the magazine, or contact Jonathan Newton (tel: 840734)

Christmas Services will commence on Sunday 7th December with the Quiet Christmas Service. It was agreed that the Christmas Leaflets, prepared by the Parish Administration Team, should be distributed prior to this date.

Finance: Collections are up on the same stage last year. The Parish Share payments are in deficit. The PCC agreed to make a further payment at the end of the year but it is unlikely that the amount set for the parish will be paid in full this year.
The collection on Remembrance Sunday raised £367.83, which has been sent to the British Legion.
The Autumn Fayre raised in excess of £2650. Congratulations were expressed to everyone involved in this highly successful event.
Parochial Fees (2009) were agreed for Funerals and Weddings.
The PCC accepted the offer from the Trustees of the Endowment Trust to pay the costs of running the Parish Office.

Fabric: A donation has been received towards the purchase of the Chancel carpet to match up with a new Wedding Carpet. Talks are in hand regarding the replacement of the Churchyard Path. Ongoing projects include the Sound System, renovation of the Choir Stalls, replacement of the South Transept Pinnacle, Church heating and the placing of an Inscription marking the Floor Renovation.

Charitable Giving: Members voted for charities to receive a grant from the PCC. The selected charities were: Hospice at Home, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Bluebell Children’s Hospice, St John’s Hospice, Hatfield Scouts (68th), Doncaster Schools’ Workers’ Trust, Marie Curie Nurses, M25 Centre for the Homeless in Doncaster, Hatfield Girl Guides and Alzheimer’s Disease Society and each will receive a cheque for £100.

Social Committee: Sixty-one over-70s had been served their Christmas Lunch earlier in the day. Many appreciative compliments had been passed on to the super team of 20 helpers. The Lions’ had donated £150 and the Town Council £100.
Feedback was given regarding the Yuletide Fair.

Next Meeting will be on Wednesday 7 January 2009
