Meeting on March 3rd 2010

Parochial Church Council Meeting: Wednesday 3rd March 2010

After three appeals, the PCC still has received no offers to replace Vera Liddle, who for many years has managed the team running the Autumn Fayre. Not only does this event generate valuable funding for the church, but, in bringing together so many members of the community in a common cause, it is worth trying to keep in our annual diary.
(Is there no-one out there who, with the help of a group of friends, could co-ordinate the Fair? You do not need to be a member of the PCC, just willing to help raise much-needed funds for the Church. If interested / willing, please contact myself or the Vicar)

Angela Lister, with help from Karen, will be arranging Coffee Mornings in aid of Church Funds, and 4 have already been booked.

Vicar’s Matters: The Inspection of Anglican Schools undertaken recently by both our C of E schools produced very favourable reports. Travis School was officially deemed to be of Outstanding standard and Manor School, while waiting for the official report, has been awarded its best ever level. Congratulations to all involved in this magnificent achievement.

Finance: The monthly amount paid by Standing Order towards the Parish Share has been increased in an attempt to pay as much of the Share as possible. The Organ Fund is very close to the amount quoted for the job of restoration, work which has now started.

The PCC considered the Accounts for the past year, details which are required for the Annual Report prior to the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) to be held on 28th April at 7.30pm in the Church. After discussion and clarification, the Financial Statement was accepted by the PCC.

The APCM Report will be made available to parishioners very shortly, and copies will be placed on the table at the back of Church. Information about PCC members reaching the end of their term of office will be posted and Voting Forms will be available for nominations for PCC members, Deputy Churchwardens and Churchwardens. Those who attend church but who are not yet on the Electoral Roll will be encouraged to fill in an Application Form to redress the situation, earning the right to vote at the APCM. The Annual Report was approved as presented. The Vicar and PCC Secretary were granted the mandate to include any outstanding reports.

Fabric: Prior to work starting on the Churchyard Drainage and Resurfacing of the Path, members of the Fabric Committee will meet with the Architect to discuss the programme of work, site visits and meetings, site set-up and safety welfare.

A First Aid Course has been organised particularly for those helpers involved with Children’s Ministry and will result in Health and Safety Executive certification valid for three years.

The PCC voted to accept the nomination of Karen Green as Foundation Governor at Manor School.

Social Committee: Members learned of the unfortunate cancellation of the proposed Barn Dance, due to insufficient interest. The trip to see ‘Calendar Girls’ is, however, a sell-out, and tickets will be placed at the back of Church.

Any Other Business: There will be a coach trip to Harrogate on 8th May at a cost of £10. Christine Gilbert presented a cheque for £200, a donation from collections at Pram Services.
The service at Doncaster Minster to swear-in the Churchwardens is to be held on Wednesday 5th May.

The first PCC Meeting after the APCM will be held on Thursday 6th May at 7pm.
