The Barn Regeneration Group
We've had well over 50 meetings since we started in January 2007. Following the hard work to compile a wish list, created from the public questionnaires and discussions we've had with many people. This list was then sent out to six architects together with background information and photographs of The Barn site.
From these we received 4 very strong replies. We spent many hours meeting with architects, analysing their strengths and weaknesses and how we felt they could bring to reality the vision of the wish list, to produce a sustainable building to meet the needs of this and future generations.
One architect firm stood out from the rest and at a meeting of the PCC Tim gave a presentation, taking PCC members through the qualities of the various architects and finally giving reasons for our recommendation. Questions and discussions took place before the PCC agreed to the proposal .... "The PCC agree to the appointment of Eco Arc, to take us through to the initial design and costings stage, with a view to the completion of a new community facility on The Barn / Barn Field site"
During this period we continued to receive help and advice from Shahida Siddique (Together for Regeneration).
We then moved to the next stage, to find funding for the initial stages of this programme so Eco Arc can start the work of creating a new community building.
A funder finder search was undertaken for us by South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau and we started the process of seeking funding.
Peoples' thoughts, suggestions and help (in any form) continue to be welcome as we move this exciting project forward.
